U.K.: Prime Minister Fails To Reach Reform Deal With EU

British Prime Minister David Cameron and European Council President Donald Tusk failed on Jan. 31 to reach a deal on the United Kingdom's EU renegotiation after talks in London, the leaders said, Reuters reported. Instead, both agreed to 24 hours of further discussion. The two had been discussing the EU's proposal for an emergency brake on benefits payments to migrants as a way to meet Cameron's target of curbing migration into the United Kingdom. Cameron has also promised to reform British ties to the unionand hold a public vote on EU membership before the end of 2017.
