Russia: Black Sea Fleet Deploys New Ship, Reportedly Bound For Syria

Russia dispatched a new ship armed with cruise missiles to the Mediterranean, Russia's Black Sea Fleet said Feb. 13, AFP reported. A security source in Crimea — where theBlack Sea Fleet is based — also said that the ship is bound for Syria and may take part in Russia's campaign to support the Syrian army. Moscow is being criticized for its bombing campaign in Syria, with the United States this week accusing it of underminingpeace talks by assisting an offensive on the rebel stronghold of Aleppo. Russia, meanwhile, warned against any ground intervention in Syria by countries in the U.S.-led coalition.
