Philippine Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said Nov. 7 that annual war games between the U.S. and Philippine militaries will continue, and the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) — a key military cooperation agreement giving U.S. forces rotational access to certain Philippine bases — will be implemented, Rappler reported. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has said previously that he aims to scrap EDCA before the end of his term. However, two joint naval exercises will be canceled. Lorenzana said joint exercises between the two militaries from now on will be limited to counter-terrorism, humanitarian relief and disaster response, engineering projects and civic actions.
