Peace talks in Yemen between the Saudi-backed government of President Abd-Rabboh Mansour Hadi and Houthi rebels will likely be postponed past mid-January, according to a Jan. 9 statement by a representative of Hadi's office, Reuters reported. The spokesperson cited the Jan. 8 announcement by Houthi-aligned former President Ali Abdullah Saleh that he would not participate in talks. Negotiations had been set to resume on Jan. 14. A Saudi-backed coalition is currently trying to retake Sanaa from rebel forces.
