Russia: New Security Strategy Lists U.S. As Threat
January 2, 2016 | 14:35 GMT |
For the first time, Russia has named the United States a threat to its national security in the Kremlin's new security strategy document, Reuters reported Jan. 2. Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the national security document on Dec. 31, replacing a version that has been in place since 2009 and makes no mention of the United States or NATO as a threat. The standoff between Russia and the West has been central in shaping the global system for the past two years, and it will likely endure in 2016.
