Greece: President To Meet With Russian Leaders

Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos will travel to Moscow on Jan. 15 to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev as well as various business leaders, Sputnik News reported Jan. 9. Greece has a strategic interest in maintaining strong ties with Russia. Greece is dependent on Russian natural gas and pricing is always a sensitive issue. Ongoing tensions with EU leadership also make Russia an important partner for Greece.
