Vatican: First Agreement With Palestinian Territories Comes Into Force

The Vatican's first accord with the Palestinians, which details the Roman Catholic Church's operations in areas under Palestinian control, is now in force, the Holy See said Jan. 2, AFP reported. Israel has labeled the deal, which was signed in June a little more than two years after the Vatican recognized the Palestinian Territories as a sovereign state, as counterproductive to the Israeli-Palestinian peace process.
